Oh, Valentine’s Day, you creep up on us every year. Suddenly underwear stores are festooned with intricate-looking, webbed concoctions of black and red lace. Well this year, we’re not falling for it! We want to feel sexy and pretty – not trussed-up like a turkey. I love the pretty rose and cream combo of this balcony set – it’s the perfect bit of colour, while still feeling glamorous. The luxurious eyelash lace topping the cups is a lovely touch, as are the cute bows on the straps. The underwired cups are supportive while giving a good bit of lift – it’s clearly well made and is comfortable to wear.
I also adore the sheer back of the briefs – flirty but still comfortable, which is ideal if you want to know there’s something very stunning underneath your Valentine’s Day date outfit! A gorgeous lingerie set that I’d happily wear any day of the week. It cheers me up knowing I’m wearing something extremely pretty under the layers of winter clothing.

Freya – Starlet Black Plunge Balcony Bra & Briefs

In comparison to the ‘Crush Orchid’ bra (reviewed below), the ‘Starlet’ is sheer with no padding, but it still provides great support and shape. The cup is decorated with swirled stitching which makes it feel a little more special than just a plain black bra. The plunge style means it can be worn with lower cut tops and you won’t see it, although a little bit of lace peeking out over the top of a cami is a cute look for a date night or night out with the girls. If you’re used to wearing bras with a slightly thicker fabric or light padding you might feel a little exposed in this one. A sexy edition to any lingerie drawer, yet it still maintains all the support and comfort you’d expect from a good bra.

Huit 8 – Pretty Retro Plum Soft Bra & Briefs

I love this set so much. It is so pretty and the pattern makes it stand alone from any other lingerie. The colour is a really deep gorgeous Plum purple and is so perfect for this time of year. After wearing it for a day you hardly feel like you are wearing anything at all. There are no wires or padding so nothing is digging into you or making you wiggle around while you re-adjust. This is a beautiful set if you are looking for something sexy, comfortable and dainty for any time of day or mood.

Freya – Crush Orchid Padded Longline Bra & Briefs

This is a beautiful, vibrantly coloured bra. Lightly padded, it gives a smoothed, rounded shape. It has more length than a regular bra, thanks to an additional band of fabric around the bottom of the bra under the cups. It has 6 hooks down the back giving it almost the look of a crop top. This bra is so lovely and bright it would look great under a light, plain top with low sides to show off a sneak peak of the pattern.The only thing I would say to bear in mind is that the added hooks down the back made it slightly trickier to put on, if you are used to doing your bra up at the front and then twirling it round to the back you might struggle but maybe it’s a good chance to put some yoga stretching to good use!

Wacoal – Cherish Rose Petal Push Up Bra & Briefs

This gorgeous dusky-pink lingerie set is all about the detail. A bit of sparkle never goes amiss when you want something treaty – and this set nails it perfectly with a few scattered, subtle diamantes on the straps and iridescent thread adorning the cups. Soft pink lace edges the cups and back strap, and the inner-seamed cups give good lift and support. With one clip at the back strap, this bra is perfect if you have a smaller chest size and want something pretty and feminine that you can easily wear under most outfits. If you’re after more of a plunge effect, it also comes with soft inserts you can pop into the cups – although personally, I appreciated that these are removable.
The briefs that match this set are similarly gorgeous – a lacey front and a soft, sheer back, which sexily skims the top of your cheeks. Naughty, but definitely very nice.
