No 197 Chiswick Fire Station, London

No 197 Chiswick Fire Station cocktails

The new place-to-go bar opened in Chiswick High Road, London recently with a super-packed, cocktail-charged evening of press and the good-to-know crowd. We popped along to see if No 197 Chiswick Fire Station is as good as its hype – see what we thought in our review below.

Super chic Janes and Joes gathered at No 197 for an evening of hot-off-the-press social champagne collaboration to try out the potential watering hole abilities of this swanky new bar.

No 197 Chiswick Fire Station: cracking cocktails

Apart from its Firehouse heritage, the Chiswick venue has minimalist décor – neutral tones, modern furniture, high ceilings, and airiness; simple but somewhat soulless. However, the lack of character is made up for in cracking cocktails, which were on-point and seriously tasty – OK, strong – parfait!

Chiswick is booming with a high calibre of Londoners, and this was wonderfully evident in the guest list, who created a high-quality buzz and pleasant drinking atmosphere. A great place to meet your pack of pals for a cocktail or two, or brunch with mum.

First Date Destination

For a first date, it’s bright enough that you couldn’t be conned into having that “Err, is he attractive?” moment after one too many nervy drinks (NB: remember we mentioned “strong” cocktails 😉 ). In minimal lighting, if it was busy enough, it could drown out any awkward silences and, hell, if you did hit it off you could make a night of it with a great menu to nibble from.

However, if you like a date with charisma we suggest you team it with a walk around the river too, as you’re in the ideal location for a leisurely stroll.
