Autumn Winter beauty trends
As Summer gradually comes to a close, we’re focusing on the positives – the excuse to invest in new some brand new beauty products to embrace the Autumn/Winter 2013 trends!
This Autumn is all about sumptuous berry hues, flawless matte finishes and grown-up glamour. These are our top tips for taking the trends from the catwalk to your dressing table.
Seen everywhere from Gucci to Jason Wu, berry reds, purples and even bronze hues are going to be big this season. Layer over the eyelid and socket for maximum impact – and pair with a nude lip. We love Mac Eyeshadow in Passionate £17, Rimmel Glam Eyes in Spicy Bronze £4.49 and Nars Shimmer in Strada £18.
If you try one new beauty product this autumn, make it lip stain. The key is a bold, matte lip – blot away any shine (and with it, any fears that ‘stain’ conjures up images of a joker-like smile). Again, berry tones are huge, as seen across Prada, Vera Wang and Lanvin. Try YSL Glossy Stain in Rouge Vintage £23.50 and pair with nude eyes. Or if you want to start with a more subtle look, try a pretty petal shade, such as Corail Aquatique.
Use foundation set with powder to give a flawless, luminous finish, ideally without blush – aim for ladylike Hepburn-glamour rather than girly youthfulness. Try Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation £21.50 – or top your foundation with an illuminator such as Benefit’s High Beam £19.50.
Yes, berry shades are big for nails too! Think deep ruby tones and wine-coloured hues. We’ll be wearing Rimmel 60 Seconds in Red Carpet £2.99, Nails Inc Victoria £11 – and maybe even Chanel Le Vernis in Dragon £17.50 if we’re feeling flush after payday.
Whether as a subtle, top-line-only line at Rochas, thick-lined smoky grunge glamour at Rodarte, or a modern take on the 60s sweep in metallic shades at Dior, eyeliner was big on the A/W catwalk. Perfect your feline flick with Rimmel Exaggerate £5.29, or go futuristic with Barry M in Silver £3.99.
