October fashion edit

The changing season means that we have the perfect reason to browse the web for new pieces to add to our collection. We have collated three top pieces from each of our three favourite brands to update our wardrobe.

Take your pick from three of our favourite high street brands:

Topshop

We love the casual and laid-back styles on offer this autumn. Topshop have a great range of checks and stripes this season that add that casual aesthetic. We have seen lots of versions of this striped polo jumper on the high street (check out Zara for great alternatives). This one would look great paired with a skirt and boots, or jeans and some cool trainers. The Borg jacket would like great over the top. It is a great transition piece from autumn to winter and it’s a great alternative to a regular denim or leather jacket. And not to mention how damn comfy it looks, it’s like wearing a hug all day!

For a slightly more girly look, this adorable tartan skirt is a great autumn addition to your wardrobe. It would look beautiful in the office, for after work drinks or paired with trainers on the weekend. It is really warm, which means it will work great into the winter season. A really versatile skirt that is available in a Tall version for you tall ladies who don’t want to show off too much thigh.

RIVER ISLAND

The muted tones on the River Island website really had us swooning. There are so many variations of this classic A-line button-up skirt, but this one is really eye-catching due to its colour and texture. The pastel blue is unique and we think would look great paired with some thick black tights, boots and a fedora.

This autumn we really wanted to update our workwear – and this knitted stripe dress is just perfect. It is conservative enough for work, but would also look great as a date night outfit or for cocktails with friends. The stripes are designed to look super flattering and show off curves, which is just perfect for the Average Jane!

Lastly from RI, this yellow knitted jumper is perfect for the cosier evenings and chilled out weekends ahead. The mustard colour is a great addition to a black outfit, but would look great mixed with khakis, greys and burgundies too.

ASOS

If they could make ‘ASOS website browsing’ an Olympic sport, we would sure be going for gold! They add so much great stuff every day and trying to keep up with all the new additions is a full-time commitment (you are welcome ladies!). More than a few things caught our eye but here’s just three…

Every year it’s good to invest in a new pair of boots that are going to last. Hoping to add a little more flair and sophistication to our lives, these beautiful western style black boots got our attention. The boots are really comfortable with a block wooden heel – they definitely glam up even the plainest of outfits, such as jeans and a tee. They look great with loads of different items, so don’t be afraid to experiment with jeans, skirts and dresses.

We still can’t get enough of jumpsuits. They are a really stand-out piece, striking a perfect balance for looking like you have made an effort while not actually having made any effort at all. The jumpsuit does all the hard work for you. You just need to decide on shoes and maybe some jewellery, and you’re done – so simple! This wrap jumpsuit in Tobacco looks awesome, we love the simple detailing of the collar and wrap design. It could work as a casual piece, or add some great heels and a clutch bag for a full-on glam outfit.

We also picked out this sleeveless blazer in charcoal grey. The weather just about permits a sleeveless jacket, but you can always layer it over a warmer jumper in the colder months. We would pair this with a pair of black or white jeans and some killer stilettos as a dress-up look – or paired down with Converse and a beanie.

Rhian John

I am 24 years old and currently working in an administrative role in Norwich. I studied Speech and Language Therapy at UEA and since graduating in 2010 I have been working in London, I moved back to Norwich in September for love (of the fine city, and my boyfriend!). I have no idea what my future holds, but I am looking into doing a PGCE next year to teach English at secondary school level. I enjoy drinking and socialising on the weekend and going to gigs and club nights. I love reading blogs and have them to blame for my ever growing make-up drawers and wardrobe.
