Kiss Me Margate at Topshop

Some of us here Average Janes grew up very close to Margate, spending our early teens frequenting Dreamland and the Carlton cinema (that will only mean something to anyone who also grew up there!) But now it’s in a hive of regeneration and there are vintage shops, retro clothes and all things kitsch popping up across the seaside town. So when our favourite high street store, Topshop launched their new range, we were excited to say the least…

Kiss Me Margate is collection of kitsch, 50’s inspired prints, knotted gingham shirts and retro denim, a seaside inspired ultra girlie collection that’s bang up to date.
　
The collection boosts candy stripes, carousel prints, pastels, retro gingham and oversized sunnies, all of which are cut in stunning girlie shapes and adorned on vintage style accessories.

A spokesman for Topshop said it was inspired by the “Kitsch-vintage chic of British seaside life during the 1950s, Margate’s reputation for its art scene and unspoiled seaside aesthetic positioned it as the ideal location for the design team to set the trend.”

So if you’re anything like us, you’ll want pretty much all of the pieces in the collection! But (again if you’re like us!) the purse strings won’t stretch quite that far! So to help you out we have picked our favourite pieces from the collection which ooze vintage seaside style.
