It’s All About Dougie Poynter

To celebrate Dougie Poynter’s 28th birthday, we are taking a trip down memory lane to showcase some of his best looks over the years. From Mcfly to McBusted, we’ve always harboured a soft spot for the floppy haired musician.

Dougie first caught our teenage attention back in 2004 when he auditioned for and successfully gained a place in newly formed boyband McFly. Along with bandmates Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Harry Judd, 15-year-old Dougie was catapulted into stardom.

Mcfly’s rise to fame came as a result of fellow boyband Busted inviting them to play as support on their tour in 2004. This launched the band and just a year later they won a Brit Award for Best British Pop Act. Even the emo fringe is doing it for us.

In 2011, the creative and stylish pop star turned his attention to creating his own clothing and accessories brand called ‘Saint Kidd‘. Ecologically sound, with an exquisite attention to detail, the range includes t-shirts, vests and accessories.

The same year, he won the eleventh series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! beating The Only Way Is Essex‘s Mark Wright to be King of the Jungle.

In 2012, Dougie collaborated with Mcfly lead singer Tom Fletcher and published a children’s book called ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas,’ about a boy who gets a pet dinosaur for Christmas. The sequels, ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped a Planet/The Past/A lot’ were released in 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively.

After McFly’s tenth anniversary in 2013, they formed with the members of Busted and created supergroup McBusted. Dougie and the boys performed throughout the UK on a full arena tour of 34 shows to positive reviews from critics and fangirls in the Spring of 2014.

During an ITV documentary called Fearne and McBusted, Dougie revealed he had been dating pop star Ellie Goulding since the start of 2014. When Cotton quizzed him on whether they were an item, he shyly admitted:”Yeah. All is good in that area.”

The pair are now one of the pop world’s hottest couples, regularly attending events together such as Victoria Beckham’s LFW party at her Mayfair boutique, and they even had their first joint photoshoot published in Rollacoaster magazine earlier this year.

At the moment, with the McBusted reunion now over, Dougie is focussing on his modelling career. He signed to Cara Delevingne’s ex-model agency Storm Models in 2011. He regularly updates his Instagram page with new pictures, so be sure to give the fitty a follow.
