Jazz up your January Wardrobe

January fashion edit

January is an awkward month. Aside from being broke and generally feeling a bit gloomy, you might also feel as if you’ve nothing to wear! It’s not quite the spring/summer season, so you can’t bust out your favourite sandals or go bare-legged just yet. So where does that leave you? If you’re anything like this Jane, then presumably with a wardrobe full of left over glittery numbers from party season… But it’s a new year, which means there’s no better excuse for a new wardrobe!

Not sure what you should be buying? Don’t worry, that’s where we come in. Looking ahead to the emerging trends from this year’s spring/summer collections, we’ve got you covered with some of our favourite picks to help you start the new year in style.

Block Colours

Block colours are set to be a huge hit this coming season. We’ve seen them showcased in all of the top designer collections over the fashion week shows. Don’t panic, this doesn’t mean you have to be super brave and clash your outfits entirely! A few bold pieces will give your wardrobe the oomph it needs.

We’re loving this blue wrap skirt from Topshop. The colour is just the right shade to help you ditch the darkness of winter. It’s the perfect transitional piece as we get closer to spring. It’s still quite nippy out though, which is why we’ve teamed it with this cosy funnel neck jumper from New Look. At just £6 it’s a bargain! As we get closer to the warmer months, the skirt will still work with a short sleeved tee and some sandals or trainers for a more casual look. But for now, pair it with a classic tan ankle boot and you’re all set.

The metallic trend has been doing the fashion rounds for quite a while now. So it’s probably time you started to embrace it, as it’s showing no signs of slowing down for the upcoming season!

What better way to spruce up your wardrobe with something shiny and new? (Literally!) We’ve picked out some of our favourite metallic pieces to help your wardrobe stand out this year. These can all be paired with more subtle pieces if you don’t want to stand out too much.
