Porky’s BBQ, Crouch End

If you’re looking for high quality BBQ food in London, Porky’s is your answer.

Porky’s owners, Joy and Simon, were inspired to create the BBQ spot after a trip around the US. In 2013, the first Porky’s opened up it’s doors in Camden and now thanks to its huge success, four more Porky’s have opened up since; in Boxpark, Bankside, Chelsea and Crouch End.

We were lucky enough to be invited down to the Crouch End joint and thoroughly enjoyed pigging out on burgers and fries!

Rebecca, Porky’s Operations Manager, was extremely helpful in guiding us along with the menu. We opted for the chilliburger and it was absolutely delicious. Other popular favourites on the menu are the smoker options, including: baby back ribs and pulled pork. Next time we’ll make sure to pig out on those, too.

For Janes who are vegetarian, don’t let the ‘BBQ’ put you off, there are loads of choices, such as the super tasty mac ‘n’ cheese and the memphis bean burger. The prices aren’t too shabby either, with burgers for under a tenner.

As for drinks, the bar is brimming with everything from American beers, to a whole host of cocktails.

The restaurant itself is styled like your typical American diner with a retro feel. We were there early in the evening on a weekday, so the atmosphere was a little quiet, but we’re sure this would be a different case altogether on the weekends.

If you like the idea of a BBQ-inspired challenge, then head to Porky’s on a Wednesday for Man V. Ribs. Just picture Man vs Food and you get the idea.

For £18 you’ll be served a challenge portion of ribs and tips, plus a big pile of their seasoned fries, anyone who manages to finish the whole lot gets a Porky’s t-shirt. Don’t forget to bring your stopwatch, because if you eat the ribs in record time, you could be in with the chance of winning a free meal for two!

There’s nothing better than going for a burger with a bunch of your mates, oh and by the way, Porky’s has beer pong too, so what are you waiting for!

Just like the other locations, Porky-fans can book their table on their website, or by dropping an email to: crouchend@porkys.co.uk.

Porky’s Crouch End is located at: 4 Topsfield Parade, Crouch End, N8 8PR.
