A brand new trailer has just landed for the hotly anticipated La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.
From the director of the multi-award winning Whiplash, Damien Chazelle is back to take home the gongs at next year’s Academy Awards.
Plotwise, La La Land centres on two dreamers living in Los Angeles: Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress who is struggling to land a gig and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a pianist who wants to open his own jazz club.
The pair meet and eventually fall for each other, but their dreams are tested when their relationship becomes an obstacle to their careers rather than a support system.
Chazelle discussed the film in a recent interview with The Guardian, saying: “La La Land is about the city I live in, it’s about the music that I grew up playing, it’s about movies that I grew up watching.”
The new trailer shows Mia (it’s great to have Emma Stone back on our cinema screens!) as a dreamer in LA. Her character Mia is going to auditions but failing miserably. She then finds herself in a bar, absolutely blown away by Sebastian’s piano playing. The clip doesn’t actually give too much away, so we were left wondering how the story will play out!
If the current reviews are anything to go by, La La Land will be taking home a whole bunch of gongs next awards season. Following its world premiere, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw gave it a rare five star rating and declared it a “sun-drenched musical masterpiece!”
La La Land is set to hit UK cinemas this December, what a Christmas treat.
