Bradley Cooper’s latest comedy romance film Aloha, where he stars alongside Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams.

The plot follows Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper), a 37-year-old disgraced US weapons consultant, who is deployed to a military base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of an advanced spy satellite. Together with anal and humourless Captain Allsion NG (Emma Stone), he must secure blessings from the native Hawaiian council before the launch.

Whilst on the island, Brian meets up with the love of his life that got away, Tracy (Rachael McAdams) who is now married with two kids. She helps him discover himself and what he truly wants in life.

Written, produced and directed by multi-award winning Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous) we predict the film is in very safe hands. The all star cast, which also includes funny men Bill Murray, Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski and Danny McBride, will add to the comical value of the film.

The trailer introduces us to the very unpopular, “Mr Sexy Pants”, Brian Gilcrest, who has seemingly more beauty than brains. He is very swiftly sent away to Hawaii to prove his worthiness for a second chance. His old boss, played by Bill Murray, reintroduces Brian “back in the game” and he is soon paired with attractive Captain Allison NG. From what we can figure out, Brian will have to decide between his old romance and a new romance, whilst simultaneously reflecting on his own life decisions.

Following the recent premiere of Aloha in West Hollywood, the film has been negatively targeted for its all-white casting while using Hawaii as a setting. It is not the first film to do this, as The Descendents and 50 First Dates, which were both set in the same place, had similar all-white casts. Sony Pictures were quick to respond to the Aloha backlash.

“While some have been quick to judge a movie they haven’t seen and a script they haven’t read, the film Aloha respectfully showcases the spirit and culture of the Hawaiian people,” the studio said in a statement to Us Weekly.

“Filmmaker Cameron Crowe spent years researching this project and many months on location in Hawaii, cultivating relationships with leading local voices. He earned the trust of many Hawaiian community leaders, including Dennis ”Bumpy” Kanahele, who plays a key role in the film,” the statement added.

Aloha is released in the UK on September 4.
