Pop princess Katy Perry has just started her own record label called Metamorphosis Music! She announced the launch via Twitter and uploaded a picture of the Metamorphosis Music logo to her Instagram, she’s all about social networking these days.
The first artist signed to the label, Ferras, will be supporting her on the North American leg of the Prismatic World Tour. Perry claims he is “a man with a message”, by this we imagine she means he is a talented songwriter, which would make sense as he has already penned top hits for Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin.
Ferras was bursting to reveal the news on his Twitter and when Katy finally unveiled the label on hers, out came the i’m-now-signed-to-Katy-Perry’s-record-label emojis and he went off to celebrate by getting tattoos, as you do.
On a more serious note, we praise KP for showing her strength and place within the music industry, an arena that is still very much dominated by men. Although the label is a subsidiary of Capitol Records, Perry will still be at the forefront of it, which will no doubt make her an important role model for women trying to pave their way into the industry.
