Alexa Chung for M&S

It’s the question on fashion lips everywhere this week: can Alexa Chung work her magic to draw us back into M&S? Looking at her collection, the answer is almost certainly yes. Alexa Chung for M&S launched this week and it’s already drawing a fashion following for its retro-meets-modern pieces.

Former TV presenter Chung has long been a fashion muse – from being the inspiration behind Mulberry’s hit Alexa ‘It’ bag, to fronting campaigns and collaborations for DKNY, Longchamp, Stella McCartney and many more.

Now she’s turned her It-girl touch to good old British brand M&S, bringing her effortlessly casual cool-girl style to this beloved store’s fashion collections.

We have to admit, M&S have already been upping their game for younger women recently. Last year there was that suede skirt that everyone went mad for and we were impressed by their winter knitwear collections in the latest colours. Meanwhile, their ongoing lingerie and nightwear collaboration with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has definitely been a success. So can Chung sprinkle a bit of fashion fairy dust over M&S with her new collection?

Inspired by her own childhood memories, Chung dived into the fashion archives at M&S to dig out old classics and give them a modern twist. There’s a divine trench in military green, a fluffy ribbed jumper in candy pink (one of this spring’s hottest shades) which could be straight out of the ’60s, and even a piecrust collared blouse that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Princess Diana photoshoot.

We might not quite be able to pull off the piecrust collar, but there are a few pieces in the Alexa Chung for M&S collection that have caught our eye. Check out a few of our favourites below.

Frances Trench, £89

Harry Blouse, £35

Myrtle Jumper, £29.50

Edna Shirt, £35

Ada Trousers, £39.50

Misty Dress, £45

All available from Alexa Chung for M&S.
