It was the very first hostel opened in Budapest, located just a 15-minute walk to the center of Buda. I stayed here when I went interrailing with a group of friends, the owners were very friendly and knowledgeable about Budapest.

Avail Hostel
From £15 for a double bed private suite.
This hostel in located in the heart of the city and has private rooms, so ideal for couples. Avail currently has the highest rating on Hostel World and boasts some very positive reviews from guests.

HOTELS
Hotel Palazzo Zichy
From £80 per night for a Superior room.
One of the best-ranked hotels on Trip Advisor and winner of the Travellers Choice 2015 award, if you have a bigger budget then Palazzo Zichy is the place for you.

Baltazar
From £140 per night for a Suite (2 adults)
If you are a fan of boutique hotels, Baltazar is the option for you. It is located in the quiet old city area, near the Buda castle, just a ten-minute walk to the city center.

WHAT TO DO

Whether it is your first time visiting Budapest or you have been before, there is always a lot to do. Take a dip in the city’s famous baths, stroll across the Chain Bridge that connects Buda and Pest or try out the local cuisine.

IN THE DAYTIME
Széchenyi Baths
From £13 per person for a day ticket.
A must do for anyone visiting Budapest; it is one of the best and largest spa baths in Europe. Relaxing and affordable, enjoy the hot spring waters in the pools, head to one of the 10 saunas and then grab yourself a 30 minute massage.

Vajdahunyad Castle
Built in 1896 Vajdahunyad is one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. It is free to look around the courtyard, but if you wanted to visit the Museum of Agriculture residing inside the castle it will cost around just £3 per person.

AT NIGHT
Budapest is well known for being a party city, for the real partygoers head to Morrisons 2, one of the most popular clubs, with five floors, five music styles and daily drink promotions.

For something a little more chilled, try out Innio Borbár, a wine bar with a rustic yet relaxed setting. Located in downtown Budapest, this place is great for a night of wine tasting with friends.

RESTAURANTS IN BUDAPEST
Zeller Bistro is a very popular destination for the international crowd, so be sure to make a reservation. You can try out some traditional Hungarian home cooking in the beautiful candle lit cellar setting.

For something a little more fancy, try out Costes, Hungary’s first Michelin starred restaurant. Dine in a stylish and elegant setting, tasting some of the top international cuisine. The place gets rave reviews, so like Zeller, it might good idea to reserve a table.
