Kakslauttanen Igloo Village

feat-igloo-village

If your idea of the ultimate holiday is husky sledding, snowmobile safaris, ice fishing and watching the Northern Lights then this is probably the place for you…

The Kakslauttanen Igloo Village is situated in 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the finnish Lapland, the resort offers traditional log cabins with private saunas, snow igloos for overnight stays and the incredible glass igloo village.

From the comfort of your cosy glass igloo you can lay in bed and admire the northern lights and the starry sky. The igloos are made from a special thermo glass which keeps in the heat and prevents the glass from becoming frosted even when the outside temperature drops to a chilling -30C.

The igloos are available right through the northern light season which is roughly the end of August through to the end of April. The igloos are designed for two people, however, as of the 2014-15 winter season, there are brand new four person igloos available.

Each winter specialists are brought in to build several ice and snow structures around the resort. These include the Ice Gallery, Ice Bar, Ice Chapel (available fro weddings!) and the world’s largest snow restaurant.

Wow.

We think this place looks like something magical straight from Narnia and probably one of the most romantic places on the planet! An experience we’re pretty sure, you’d never forget.
