Winter warmers! Creating your cosy winter hideout
With Hygge (the cosy Danish way of living) taking over our magazines and blogs we love to read, it seems only natural that we should embrace it in our home. Here are Average Janes we love a lovely warm blanket in the winter and home furnishings that allow us to fully relax and embrace the cold winter nights outside, by being warm and cosy inside.
Here we pick our favourite home furnishings to convert your home from autumn warmth to winter snugly:
Scrabble Fairy Lights – Urban Outfitters £25
Fairy lights make any room into a twinkly little paradise and gone are the days when indoor fairy lights are just for Christmas time. These quirky Scrabble themed cube lights are lovely and make a perfect gift too.
Icelandic Sheepskin Rug – NotontheHighstreet.com £98
We love a good old shaggy rug, especially kicking off your heels after a long day in the office and curling your toes into it! This one is perfect and not too pricey either. Elsewhere you would be looking at £200 plus, so this bad boy is quite the bargain. It comes in lots of colours too so you can match the rest of your décor.
Brown Canvas Bean Chair – Dunelm £79.99
Great for reading your favourite book, flicking through magazines with a glass of wine or even as an extra place to sit when you have guests, every house needs a bean bag. This one is good as it has the nice sturdy back which won’t leave you sprawled out, but sat upright and comfortable.
Oak Arches Picture – John Lewis £50-£200 depending on size
A picture on your wall can make all the difference when furnishing your room. This one is a little spooky and stark but it would look gorgeous with a black or brown themed room. If you like the idea but want something with a little more colour then this one also from John Lewis might fit your colour scheme more. The sun shining through really adds warmth and will make you crave a hot chocolate when you look at it.
Faux Fur Cushion – Tesco £14
You can’t go wrong with a faux fur cushion on your sofa. Mix and match with some other plain or cotton cushions so you don’t overdo the fur vibe. These are gorgeous and soft, but be careful, you will fall asleep on it during even your most favourite show!
So there you go. You should be well on your way to creating your perfect cosy Hygge inspired room. Add throws and blankets and you are ready for the winter. Enjoy!
