Are you a Jane who is always on the go? Well, the Rocketbook Wave might just be the tech star you’ve been looking for. The device combines the freedom of a traditional pen and paper notebook, while instantly blasting your notes into the cloud using your smartphone.

Tech Stars: Rocketbook Wave

Founded in June 2014, Rocket Innovations wanted to create a way for natural writing surfaces to connect to the cloud using your smartphone and so they came up with the ingenious Rocketbook Wave.

The idea is that you write notes and create designs in your special notebook (called a Wave) with a Pilot Frixion pen, then using image capture technology, the free Rocketbook app accurately and quickly captures and sends your notes to pre-configured cloud services.

The seven symbols locatated at the bottom of each notebook page are the magic “buttons” behind the Rocketbook’s super quick and easy cloud organisation. You assign each icon to the destination of your choice, any folder inside Dropbox, Evernote, Google Docs, OneNote or your email address. When you mark that icon on your page with a cross, the Rocketbook app automatically files your notes in the right folder.

That’s not even the best part about the notebook. Once your notes are stored safely in the cloud, and when you use Pilot Frixion pens, you can erase your Wave using your microwave oven. That’s right, microwave oven.

As the Pilot Frixion pens use a special “thermochromic” ink which becomes clear under heat, all you need to do is apply heat to the ink and your notebook will become blank and be ready to use again. The Wave is microwave friendly, and the specially designed thermal logo on the cover tells you when your Rocketbook is done.

The guys at Rocket Innovations have taken their idea to crowd funding site Kickstarter, and with 51 days still to go, they have absolutely smashed their goal! Their initial aim was to reach $20,000, but they are already on over $150,000 and counting!

If you would like your very own Rocketbook Wave, head over to their Kickstarter page and pledge your support. For just $27 (£18) Janes can get their hands on a Rocketbook Wave and a Pilot Frixion pen.

They ship all orders worldwide and even though the expected date for delivery isn’t until August 2016 (due to the time taken for full scale production) we know it’ll definitely be worth the wait!
