Our Tips for National Chocolate Week
This week is national chocolate week (we know, as if we needed yet another excuse!), and our lovely friends at Kinnerton UK have sent us some yummy samples of their new ‘Just’ chocolate range.
The best thing about this chocolate is you can enjoy it totally guilt free because it doesn’t contain any dairy, egg, gluten, artificial flavours or nuts, but don’t worry it’s still totally tasty! (No really, we promise). It’s still chocolate, it’s light and it’s rich, without lacking in sweetness. So you really have the perfect excuses to indulge your sweet tooth!
The just range comes in three flavours; ‘Just Dark Chocolate’ ‘Just Dark Mint Chocolate Box’, and ‘Just Dark Chocolate with Orange Bar’. Not only are the bars tasty and healthy, but they’re cheap too, ranging from £0.65 for 25g and £1.50 for 85g. The box is slightly more expensive at £5 but that’s still some pretty happy purse strings!
So seeing as its national chocolate week (and we’ve just munched our way through all of the Just bars), We thought we’d compile a list of some of the best places around London to kick back and enjoy some chocolatey treats!
WHERE TO FIND CHOCOLATEY GOODNESS IN LONDON:
1. Choccy woccy doo dah.
Where: 30-32 Fouberts Place. Carnaby, W1F 7PS
With a name like that how could you possibly resist? Choccy woccy doo dah is a chocolate shop in the heart of London, and it’s the closest you can get to a real life version of Willy Wonka! The shop planted its roots in Brighton, and featured on UKTV before going on to open their London branch. You can visit the ‘Bar Du Chocolate’, which is run on a first come first serve basis. You can enjoy their famous choccy-woccy-doo-dah sundae, which features chocolate ice cream, truffle, chocolate brownie, more chocolate, whipped cream, and a chocolate straw (we are salivating just thinking about it!) If you’re feeling super indulgent, you can get their ‘sampling platter to share’ for just £24.99 and it is quite literally a little bit of everything! From chocolate cake, to lemon drizzle and coconut you won’t be stuck for choice. But if that all sounds a bit too adventurous, you could just opt for one of their yummy hot chocolates instead! The white one pictured above is a must have at just £3.50.
Where: 41 Broadwick Street, Soho.
The best thing about this little gem in soho is that all of the chocolate is displayed in quirky little mason jars. Not only that, but the hot chocolate is actually brewed in bubbling cauldrons that are visible from the glass counters. With its chic and cosy interior, it’s the perfect place to relax and have a sweet treat after an afternoon of shopping on the west end. You can enjoy a ‘Pizza Romana’ which is pizza bread lathered with creamy hazelnut chocolate spread for just £1.80. They even dip your serving cup in melted chocolate, not once, not twice, but three times! Absolutely heavenly.
3.Hotel Chocolat Cafe
Where: 4 Monmouth Street, Covent Garden
A much loved favourite across The UK, Hotel Chocolat is oozing with everything a self confessed chocoholic needs! You can try their cocoa shell infusions which they describe as ‘light and detoxing’ for just £2.25. Or if you fancy something a bit more rich and filling, you can’t go wrong with their mouth-watering ‘Rocky Road Superhighway’ for £2.50. Or choose from a selection of Brownies for £3.50. As well as cafe’s, Hotel Chocolat also has a number of shops where you can buy some lovely gifts for almost any occasion, (even if that occasion is a binge fest at home after a hard Monday!). They have also just rolled out their spooky treats for Halloween; you can check them out here.
If all that still isn’t enough, there are some fantastic events going on across London for chocolate week. Blanxart are hosting chocolate tastings at Borough Market, and there will be lots of exciting things going on at The Chocolate Show at the Olympia in Kensington. Chocolate week runs until Sunday so you have plenty of time to get involved.
