Festival camping. Sprawling on picnic blankets in bright sunshine, drinking beers under a rosy sunset… Errr, yes. But this is Britain so embrace the mud! Pack these camping essentials and, whether you’re a festival virgin or a seasoned pro, you will have a fabulous time!

Essential Festival Camping Kit

The CAMP

Get yourself something lightweight and easy to put up (so you can get on with the important task of finding your favourite bands). This Eurohike tent, now half price at just £35, has a front porch area should you need to shelter from the British summer.

Don’t think we’re going all glamping on you when we recommend an air mattress – this self-inflating one from Vango will help you catch some beauty sleep and be fresh for the next band. A torch such as this Mini Maglite (from £12) is essential for finding your way back after an evening dancing around!

EATING AND DRINKING

Take along your own refillable water bottle (we love this pretty design from Green Tulip, £18), and a mini-burner and kettle can be a lifesaver in the mornings – try this Primus Stove (£30) and Easy Camp kettle in a range of bright colours (£11). Keep food and drink fresh in a cool bag, such as this luggage-label design from Cath Kidston (£28).

WASHING

Embrace the festival spirit and stock up on baby wipes. Really, nothing beats good ol’ Johnson’s Baby (£5.50) – multi-purpose for use as shower-alternative, make-up remover and hand cleanser.

Dry shampoo is another fabulous washing-cheat – again, the oldies are the goodies here – so grab yourself some Batiste £2.99. We love the Tropical fragrance edition! Just spray on, massage through and you’re good to go.

CHILLING

For down-time around your tent we love this floral-design folding chair from Azuma (£12.99). A cute lantern is a must to light up your nights, this Eurohike one is a bargain at £8.

And last – but by no means least – get yourself a folding wheelbarrow or large backpack to transport all your gear (trust us, you really don’t want to be trying to carry it any other way). This Trespass one, now just £27.99, is ideal and a bargain!

So there you have it – our essential list for happy festival camping!

Now, pass the fruit cider!
