In our busy lives, sometimes nothing beats a brief escape with your best girlfriends. We firmly believe in the power of gossip, self-indulgence and, of course cake, to cure a great range of everyday stresses. So we were delighted to visit Brooklands BSpa in Surrey for a day full of pampering, escapism and beauty treats. Find out what we thought in our review below.

Brooklands BSpa, Surrey: perfect girls’ getaway

Situated just 30 minutes’ train ride from London, tucked into the lush, green Surrey countryside you’ll find the secret escape that is Brooklands Hotel and Spa.

Brooklands BSpa: escape everyday routine

After a slightly hesitant drive into the Brooklands Motor Circuit entrance (yes, we were in the right place), we were greeted by a haven of calm. After being handed plush robes and slippers, we glimpsed the outdoor hot tub and couldn’t wait to leap in.

Hot tub with an unusual view

Bubbling away on the sun-flooded terrace is the toasty-warm, Swedish style wooden hot tub. Its unusual view is onto the test track for Mercedes Benz World. It might sound slightly odd, but it’s incredibly relaxing lazing in hot, effervescent water while watching the world go zooming by below you. (It would also make a great combo if you have a boyfriend/husband less keen on spa days – drop him off at Mercedes Benz World and treat yourself to pampering at Brooklands next door!)

Steamy gossip

The sauna and steam room located in the women’s changing room are ideal if you’re with a girly group – perfect for de-stressing and sharing catch-up news. Not so ideal if you’ve come with a boyfriend, but hey, it gives your girly gang a good excuse for leaving the lads at home.

French Fancy: Vinotherapie – pure pampering bliss

Brooklands BSpa treatments use Caudalie products, a French skincare range grandly named ‘Vinotherapie’.

Alas, this doesn’t mean hooking you up to a constant stream of Sauv Blanc, but luckily it’s just as good (and minus the hangover)! The name comes from the French vineyards that inspire Caudalie’s divine-smelling, natural-based skincare range.

Divine Body Massage

Let’s be honest, a full body massage can sometimes feel a bit awkward – most of us are happiest with the back/neck/shoulder combo. But this Brooklands massage is smooth and seamless, allowing us to completely drift away. The Contouring Oil used felt similar to a dry facial oil – absorbing deep into skin without feeling greasy afterwards.

Vinosource Facial

This was utterly amazing – the combination of over a dozen Caudalie products left skin soft, hydrated and glowing for several days. Amy, the facial therapist, was super-professional, talking through the steps of the facial beforehand. The use of grapes to massage the face was perhaps taking the Vino theme a step too far (yes, we are serious…), but otherwise it was 50 minutes of pure bliss.

Decadent afternoon tea

We topped off our day with a luxurious afternoon tea in the secluded café area of the spa. After a soothing cuppa, we tucked into an impressive array of sandwiches (crusts cut-off, obvs), delicious-looking cakes and huge scones. A particular favourite was the unusual option of lemon curd for the scones (it works), and scrumptious mini carrot cakes.

Relaxed and refreshed

We could happily have crashed at the hotel and stayed for another day. For a few quiet hours we felt like we got away from it all, and had the perfect chance for a good girly catch-up.
