We don’t know about you, but to us the Midi trend has always seemed a tricky one. Yes, it’s ideal if you’re a 6ft model, but what about the rest of us? It looks like this trend is here to stay though, and with lots of pretty summer skirts and dresses in the style, we didn’t want to miss out!
Nailing the Midi skirt trend
So fear not, we’ve pulled together three easy ways to try out this trend – whatever your height.
Dressed-up casual
We were drawn into Topshop by this pretty jersey skirt. It’s got the perfect blush shade of not-too-sweet pink, and a gorgeous watery shimmer to the jersey fabric. We think this looks great as a dressed-up casual look when paired with a plain white t-shirt and some on-trend rose gold metallic sandals. Beware: this look may attract compliments!

Summer BBQ or Pub Drinks
These cute floral print is an ideal way to dip your toe into the midi trend. Some of us at Janes HQ are on the shorter side, and even we reckon we could do the midi trend in this dress. Dress it up with some summer wedges, or we love it dressed down with some white pumps and a denim jacket. This New Look jacket has kitschy pins added, and we’ve got our eyes on these Converse ballet trainers.

New Look Denim Jacket, £27.99
Converse Ballet Trainers, £42.99
Super-Chic Workwear
Finally, midi can even be incorporated into your workwear if you’re wanting to score some serious office style points. Try this chic wrap skirt from River Island, paired with a plain black top in a cami style – or this simple scoop neck top from Oasis. Pair with block heeled sandals – another of this summer’s key trends – and you’ll be ready to wow that boardroom.

That’s it! Our three ways to try out the midi trend this summer.
