Has fashion gone Back to the Future?
Today, 21st October 2015, is being fondly referred to by fans as ‘Back to the Future Day’ – the day to which Marty McFly and Doc Brown time-travel forward in the classic 1989 film ‘Back to the Future Part II’.
There have been many articles chronicling the foresight of the film and the ‘predictions’ that were made (I’m sure most of us use video calling on a daily basis – and we may not yet have hover boards but those weird little two-wheeled Segway things don’t seem far off the mark!).
So what about the fashions that were predicted for 2015? When watching the films as a little girl, the clothing seemed outlandish and over the top, but now as an adult in 2015 there are many trends that seem eerily familiar to the current high street offerings.
Characters in the film can be seen wearing shiny, metallic fabrics, asymmetric cuts and patterns, and a mishmash of patterns and textures.
So, whether you’re planning on going all-out at a ‘Back to the Future’ themed party or just want to make a small nod to the films, we’ve got you covered with some of the best high street pieces that could be straight from ‘The Future!’
