Where to Watch Eurovision 2018 in London: Screenings & Parties

The 2018 Eurovision song contest kicks off next week with the 36th final taking place next Saturday (12th May) in Lisbon, Portugal. Now while plenty of us pretend to not enjoy the campness of it, secretly we don’t need much of an excuse to don a bit of colour and have a singalong with a cocktail in hand. Which is why we always love heading to a Eurovision party!

You can, of course, watch it from the comfort of your sofa – and Eurovision always brings out some awesome house parties – but if you’ve not got plans, head out into the city and join one of the many Eurovision parties and screenings taking place across London. Here’s some of the best of them!

Nordic Bar

Location: 25 Newman Street, W1T 1PN.
Nearest Tube: Tottenham Court Road

Given the Scandinavia’s have a pretty good history in the competition, Fitzrovia’s Nordic Bar is always a great place to head for Eurovision. Always one of the best parties in London, Nordic Bar serves up terrific Scandi beers and cocktails, bar food to soak them up and a generous side order of camp. Both Norway and Sweden are tipped for success this year so the atmosphere should be brilliant on the night. Early bird tickets start from £5 and last ticket entry is 7.30pm. They’ll also be screening all the semi-finals from 8th May if you’re really committed!

Rio Cinema

Location: 107 Kingsland High Street, E8 2PB.
Nearest Station: Dalston Kingsland

The official Eurovision Party London washes up in Dalston this year at Rio Cinema. Doors open at 6pm, where you’ll be able to drown in Euro-inspired cocktails and some Portuguese delicacies. An almighty Eurovision Karaoke competition kicks off at 7pm, for some added entertainment before the main event kicks off at 8pm. Once the show has finish, dance the night away to all the classic Eurovision hits, courtesy of DJ Dave Simmons.

Ku Bar

Location: 30 Lisle Street, WC2H 7BA.
Nearest Tube: Leicester Square

Soho’s most beloved drag queen, Lady Lloyd, and Ku Bar don’t need much of an excuse to throw a camp bonanza, but their annual Eurovision party has quickly become somewhat of an institution in the capital. Expect plenty of bunting, plenty of boozing and plenty of boing every time the UK is awarded ‘nil points’. After the show, prepare to put your dancing shoes on and enjoy celebrations on bar’s three floors. Entry is free, but it does get busy. So despite the big screen, we’d fully suggest glamming up and arriving as early as you can!

The Water Poet

Location: 9-11 Folgate Street, E1 6BX.
Nearest Tube: Liverpool Street

The Water Poet is famed for its Eurovision bashes and 2018 looks set to be no different. For 2018, the Tardis of a pub is coming ‘with added seamen’ in line with this year’s ‘all aboard’ theme. That means the pub will be decked out to look like an ocean liner, with prizes for the best seafaring costumes. The kitchen will be serving up Portuguese themed dishes all night, while the bar will be serving some desert island cocktails in-keeping with the tone. Expect lots of Malibu…

Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club

Location: 42-44 Pollard Row, E2 6NB.
Nearest Tube: Bethnal Green

Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club is going ‘conti-mental’ next Saturday as Eurovision takes over 2 floors with the return of Euro Disco! To start the night off they’ll be screening the Eurovision final on ‘the biggest screen in the east’ with resident queen Baby Lame on hand to guide you through night with some Wogan worthy off-the-cuff commentary! After the show, it’s all about partying into the wee hours…
