The Girl on the Train Trailer
A brand new trailer has just dropped for the highly anticipated The Girl on the Train and we are all extremely excited over here at Janes HQ!
We have one big question about this film: will it live up to our sky-high expectations? Well, the trailer is absolutely terrifying, so we are definitely intrigued…
Based on Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel of the same name, the film follows the story of Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) an overweight alcoholic who makes pretty damn terrible decisions. Including getting fired from her job, but continuing to undergo her daily commute to London, to prevent her concerned housemate from finding out.
Watson is also an extremely unhappy divorcee who fantasies about a couple who live on the same street as her ex-husband after she sees them from her commuter train. This is until she sees the girlfriend get kidnapped.
Even though Hawkins wasn’t involved with the screenplay directly, her plot (with all the Gone Girl-esque twists and turns) is in very capable hands.
In the directors chair is Tate Taylor (The Help, Get on Up) and the film will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Haley Bennett, Luke Evans, Edgar Ramirez and Allison Janney.
The trailer introduces us to Blunt’s character Rachel, telling someone that she witnessed a woman being kidnapped. In the background a very eerie and frankly rather odd version of Kanye West’s Heartless plays.
We also see Allison Janney in a non-comedic role playing the main police officer assigned to the case, and Jennifer Anniston’s husband Justin Theroux as Rachel’s ex-husband.

The Girl On The Train film release date is set for 7 October 2016.
