Cue screams of excitement! We are overjoyed to announce that comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be back on our cinema screens in new film Sisters.
The first trailer was released on a recent episode of Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, where Tina Fey and Amy Poehler discussed the film. It was like a mini Saturday Night reunion seeing the duo together again. They haven’t worked with each other for several years as they had both been busy with other projects such as 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
But now, they are back on the big screen playing sisters, who, after learning their parents had sold their childhood home, decide to throw one last party at the house.
Poehler told The Tonight Show crowd, “If you like us and you like sisters and you like us playing sisters, you’re gonna love Sisters.”
The film is set for release the same weekend as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But Poehler isn’t scared of a little completion. She told Entertainment weekly, ”We said we’d only do the movie if it opened against Star Wars. We’re not scared. It’s what gets us up in the morning: We are going to f—ing crush Star Wars.”
If Tina Fey and Amy Poehler together on screen aren’t enough, Sisters also has a great supporting cast including SNL veterans Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan and Rachel Dratch. As well as an appearance from WWE star John Cena as, unexpectedly, Fey’s love interest whose safe word is “Keep going”.
Written by SNL alum Paula Pell and directed by Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore, the film is set to be one of the funniest films this year. Hilarious moments from the trailer include: a very uncomfortable scene with a ballerina music box and Tina Fey’s character judging Maya Rudolph’s belt choices.
