Rock the Kasbah Trailer
The first trailer has dropped for new American comedy film Rock the Kasbah, starring Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Zooey Deschanel and Kate Hudson.
The plot follows Richie Lanz (Bill Murray) a has-been rock manager who takes his last remaining client (Zooey Deschanel) on a USO tour of Afghanistan, in front of what he calls “2,000 horny soldiers”. Annoyed by his actions, Deschanel’s character runs away soon after they get there, taking all of his money and passport leaving him stranded.
After a few run-ins with local gangs, Richie somehow manages to become the manager for a talented young Afgan girl (Leem Lubany) with an extraordinary voice, whom he guides through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol. “There’s got to be a reason for this,” Murray says in the clip. “This is fate.”
Written by Mitch Glazer (Scrooged) and directed by Barry Levinson (Good Morning, Vietnam; Rain Man) the film is in very safe hands. Plus, if Bill Murray is not enough for you, it features an all-star cast that includes Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Scott Kaan and Taylor Kinney.
Bill Block, CEO of production company QED International, has promised that Rock The Kasbah will be an “outstanding” comedy. “With its brilliant script, superb cast and Barry Levinson at the helm, Rock The Kasbah promises to be a true comedy event on a global scale,” he added.

We cannot wait to see the return of Bill Murray in a starring role, and hopefully see more of his acapella singing, just like his rendition of Deep Purple’s ‘Smoke of the Water’ featured in the trailer.
Rock the Kasbah is set for release October 23 in the US. Still no word yet on a UK release date, but we’ll let you know if that changes.
