Mumford & Sons new single
Mumford & Sons have swapped their banjos for electric instruments in brand new single ‘Believe’.
After a three-year hiatus, we are delighted to reveal that the foursome from London is back with new single ‘Believe’.
The track is a taster from Mumford & Sons upcoming album ‘Wilder Mind’, which is set for release on May 4th.
The single boasts an entirely new musical direction, ditching their much-loved folk styling for an electric rock sound, mirroring stadium bands such as Coldplay or U2.
According to an interview for Rolling Stone, the inspiration for Mumford & Son’s new sound grew during a demo recording session at The National’s Aaron Dessner’s Studio in Brooklyn.
Frontman Marcus Mumford explained: “It was really as a result of that [session] that we went away knowing that we’d come back to a certain sound. It didn’t feel like a huge departure in some way, you know? It felt kind of natural to us. It sounds kind of like a jolt or something, but for us it was just where we were headed. We were never too heavily wedded to a certain type of instrument.”
