The UK seems overwhelmed with great singer-songwriters at the moment, from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Tom Odell, but move over guys, we have a new beautiful man in town.
If you were keeping up to date with London Fashion week you may have seen James performing live as part of the Burberry Prorsum show to rave reviews and only days later he stunned everyone with a last-minute live lounge session for BBC Radio 1 which included a cover of Haim’s ‘Forever’. For many, this was the first taster of his vocal talents and highlighted the power of his gravelly voice and heartfelt lyrics to the nation.
So who is James Bay? He is a 23 year old artist from Hitchin, Hertfordshire who gained popularity whilst supporting the likes of Tom Odell, John Newman and Kodaline on their respective tours and grafting at open-mic nights around the UK. Oh and did we mention he rocks that whole long-haired/fedora hat combo with such ease and style?
Last year he released his first EP “The Dark of the Morning” to critical acclaim and he swiftly followed it up with another EP entitled “Let It Go” in May of this year. The title track from his second EP has got to be our current favourite song due to the way James conveys his genuine emotion and reveals his honest lyrics.
We are really excited about the future for James Bay, and we think he will go on to have a great career.
Have a listen to a couple of our favourite tracks…
