Here at Janes we experienced a wonderful week in Ireland! At the awesome Indiependence festival!

Indiependence Festival Playlist!

For those that haven’t heard about Indie, it’s a small music and arts festival held in Mitchelstown near Cork. The line up is mostly made up of Irish bands with a few exceptions.

The festival consisted of trying very hard to understand some of the Irish accents, A LOT of dancing (sometimes on tables) and listening to absolutely fantastic music. So, we thought we’d put together an Indie playlist of a collection of our favourite acts from the weekend…

We’re sure a lot of you Janes have heard of Tom Odell. He headlined the main stage on the Saturday night of the festival and pretty much blew the entire crowd away blasting out fan favourites such as Another Love and getting everyone to sing along to Grow Old With Me.

Having found musical acclaim in Ireland, Walking on Cars are set to break the UK and will undoubtedly have no problem doing so. The band drew in a pretty big crowd to the main stage, singing fan favourites such as Catch Me If You Can and Hand in Hand.
Check out Two Stones..

Officially our favourite two Irish men, Hudson Taylor are a pop folk duo consisting of brothers Harry and Alfie. The band is currently recording their first full-length album, due for release in September 2014, so keep your eyes peeled!

Confirmed as the special guest act for the Saturday night, The Coronas took to the stage with one of the biggest crowds of the festival. As one of the better-known acts on the line-up, lots of their songs were sung along word perfect by extremely enthusiastic fans. We also managed to sneak backstage after their performance!
Check out Someone Else’s Hands…

When Hozier walked onto the stage, we weren’t exactly sure what to expect, but as soon as he started to sing, we fell in love. The 24-year-old Irish musician had the entire crowd completely captivated for the duration of his set. Alike Hudson Taylor, his debut album will be released in September 2014.

We’ve been big fans of White Lies since their first album back in 2009 and they did not let us down! They played a mixture of old favourites to some of their more recent tracks, ending with Bigger Than Us and Big TV.
Check out There Goes Our Love Again…

For something a little different, have a listen to Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, an English hip-hop duo. Their set was incredible and definitely one of our favourites from the weekend, particularly when Scroobius Pip started crowd surfing on a blow up chair whilst rapping!
