Amy Winehouse Documentary Trailer
Update: After details were released of the documentary we now have the very first Amy Winehouse Documentary Trailer to watch below. Amy, the upcoming documentary telling the life story of the late Amy Winehouse, is set for release in the UK on July 3.
Winehouse, who rose to international fame with hit songs such as Back to Black, Rehab and Valerie, tragically died aged 27 in 2011, from alcohol poisoning.
The documentary directed by Asif Kapadia (Senna) will show unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks.
A teaser trailer for the film was debuted earlier this year at the 2015 pre-Grammy event. At the time, David Joeseph, CEO of Universal Music UK, said the full-length trailer for Amy would be released at the end of March.
He discussed the conception and direction of the film and said: “About two years ago we decided to make a movie about her — her career and her life.”
“It’s a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius.”
The release of the film, set for July 3, will be less than a month shy of the fourth anniversary of the singer’s death.
We think the documentary will be a fitting tribute to an extremely talented, yet sadly very troubled musician and look forward to seeing it on the big sceen.
