Fearne Cotton leaving Radio 1
It’s the end of an era! Our favourite DJ Fearne Cotton will be leaving Radio 1 after ten years at the station.
The news came following an announcement on Fearne’s website that she was pregnant with her second child. She said that she and her husband, Jessie Wood, are very excited for the new arrival and to give her two-year-old son Rex, a little brother or sister.
Whilst we were cheering about the pregnancy news, we were also sad to hear she is leaving the station. In the statement after dropping the baby bombshell Fearne said: “It has also been a time of big decisions and one I want to share with you now. After much time and careful thought I have decided to leave Radio 1 after ten amazing years.”
She went onto say: ‘I have had the most incredible decade broadcasting on Radio 1, meeting wonderful people, helping break artists and watching live music from the world’s best.’
Her weekday slot from 10am-1pm will be taken over by current Official Charts Show host Clara Amfo, who claimed she is ‘thrilled’ to have secured the show.
Amfo said that she is most excited about introducing a Live Lounge artist for the first time, and with her chart knowledge we think it will be in safe hands.
We are so happy for Fearne and wish her all the luck in the future, but we will definitely miss hearing her on Radio 1. Hopefully she’ll be back for some one-off shows!
