Why we love Justin Timberlake
As he closes Wireless Festival by making sweet music with Jayz, we salute Justin Timberlake. He has gradually risen in glory from the peroxide days of NSync to the A-List actor/singer/songwriter we see before us. We loved him then, we love him now.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1981 he became a fully fledged member of The Micky Mouse Club alongside future girlfriend Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling and continued to steal our hearts as the lead singer of 90’s boy band NSync with hits like ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart’ and ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’.
At the time (we all know you felt the same!) we may have been a little jealous of Britney Spears, with her washboard stomach and JT on her arm, but we knew in our hearts that they were the perfect pop couple. Alas, it was not meant to be!
After a brief yet memorable stint with Janet Jackson and her nipple, he has gone on to produce many a hit solo record, create his own brand of tequila (him doing shots of said tequila with Jonathan Ross is one of our television highlights!) and star in a number of hollywood movies, Friends with Benefits, Bad Teacher and The Social Network are to name a few.
So, it seems Mr Trousersnake can do no wrong. We love him for his cheeky smile, down to earth persona, his ability to ‘rock his body’ and the fact that no matter how many movies he makes in-between, he continues to deliver music we can’t help but sing along to.
Go on Justin. We’re still ‘Lovin’ it’.
