Finally, spring is here! Not only does it mean beer gardens, sunnies and cider but it also means we can showcase some new spring looks with dewy, natural not-so natural make-up!
First up, this time of year we want to achieve that dewy and natural looking skin. We need something that covers and protects but also lets our skin breath and wont melt away once we are exposed to sunlight.
We adore the Rimmel BB cream, it claims to have 9-in-1 results (primes, moisturises, minimises pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens and helps protect) and to be honest we were quite dubious about such an outlandish claim, but they aren’t far off the mark. It is a perfect base to foundation, has SPF 25 in it and is perfect for spring because you will need to apply less foundation as a result.
Now gals more confident than some might be able to use the BB cream alone, but for those who need a little something extra we love L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation it is a water-based foundation so a really good spring option when things might get a little shiny during the day. It is really blendable and has a great colour range so the colour match is usually perfect!
In spring we love using cream blushes because they give a really natural and fresh look, our current favourite is the new No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush. The colour gives a really natural pink flush to the cheeks but you can build it up if you want a more statement look. It is really easy to use and you can use your fingers or a brush, we also love the packaging – a great blush for on the go.
We prefer light and natural shades in the springtime and this Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is perfect for natural matte shades. Personally, we love using venus all over the lid and naked 2 in the crease for a fuss-free look. Top with lashings of mascara and you’re done! However, if you want your eyes to have a little more sparkle we recommend the Colour Tattoo 24hr by Maybelline try the shade On and on Bronze all over the lid for a beautiful shimmer bronze shade.
For an everyday spring look we love combining two of our favourite drugstore products. Firstly, sweep Soap and Glory lipstick in Super Nude all over the lips and then top up with the Maybelline Color sensational Shine Gloss in Cashmere Rose. We think this combination is perfect because the gloss really compensates for the matte texture of the lipstick and we just love the pinky-nude colours for spring!
Last but not least, its time to banish the deep reds and purple shades and go for something a little more adventurous on your hands. Pastels are huge this spring and what better way to get on trend then with your nail colour, try the Essie varnish in Mint Candy Apple for a gorgeous pastel mint shade that will see you through until Autumn.
