Spring makeup: 5 products for a fresher look
Whenever spring time comes around, I always feel the need to down tools as it were, step away from the heavy coverage foundation and opt for a simpler make-up look. It might be because I just want to get outside and enjoy the sunshine or maybe I’m just very damn lazy, but this look takes no time at all and is the best minimal look.
1. The base
Firstly, the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is a great base product for a no-fuss base. It has just enough coverage to even-out skin and balance skin tone, whilst leaving a really dewy glow to the skin. This product works great when applied with your fingers or using a beauty blender.
2. Raise a brow
Next up, if like me, you can’t leave the house without painted-on eyebrows (the perils of having super blonde eyebrows), then an eyebrow pencil is an essential product. The Soap & Glory Archery pencil has an eyebrow tint on one side and a traditional pencil on the other. You can really go as full-on or as minimalist as you want using this pencil, it can reach proper ‘scouse’ brow levels, if that’s what you’re into.
3. Frame the eyes
No face would be complete without some mascara. At the moment my current favourite is the L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mega Volume. This mascara works really well on its own without any other eye products on your eyes. Since using this I have been discarding my eye liners and heavy eyeshadow for a bare lid – I just love how it looks on its own.
4. A pop of colour
To add some colour to your face, the Stila Convertible Colour blush in Lillium is my go-to blush. The cream formula adds a subtle flush of colour to the cheeks. This shade is a perfect pinky colour for a spring makeup look. Applying it with fingers and then blending it in using a brush is the best way to apply it for an even finish.
5. Complete the look
Last but not least, this look would not be complete without some lippy. I think lipstick is the most important element of this makeup look, as it keeps it from looking boring and unimaginative, making it a beautiful dewy makeup look. On this occasion I used the Leighton Denny LipDual in Hot Gossip, it complements the blush really well and the pink and coral tones are a perfect spring shade.
I have to give an honourable mention to another favourite lipstick at the moment, which is the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Matte lipstick in the shade Erotique. It’s more of a pinky brown shade – if you love that Kylie Jenner look, then this lippy may be the perfect one for you.
Fresh spring makeup – give it a go
So that’s it – nothing particularly ground breaking, just a really quick and lovely makeup look that takes no time at all and leaves more time for enjoying the spring weather!
