Cellulite busting tips
Cellulite. It’s one of the most commonly moaned about beauty issues by women across the globe. And rightly so! The orange peel effect can plague us all, young, old, large or skinny. It’s annoying to say the least. So here’s our tips on how to best minimise it’s appearance.
Cellulite appears as fatty deposits stay under the surface of the skin and the structure of our fat cells weakens, which makes the cells sag, creating the orange peel look we all hate. It gets worse with age and genetics can play a role but there are things you can do minimise the appearance of it.
Dry Body Brushing
Our first top tip is body brushing. It’s simple, inexpensive and really effective. Invest in a dry body brush and once a day, before you jump in the shower or bath, get brushing! Start at your feet and briskly sweep the brush in long, upward motions towards your heart.
This helps by getting the lymphatic fluid flowing, which disperses toxins in the body and moves fatty deposits. It means daily dedication, but should end up in smooth, glowing and often dimple-free skin.
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help you to clean out your system. The liquid will drive toxins out of the body and in turn minimise build up and help keep your skin healthy.
It’s probably not what you want to hear but exercise is one of the best ways to help banish cellulite. Zap the fat with cardio and support the skin structure by toning up. But the lunge is your best weapon. as it attacks two of the main problem areas, your butt and thighs.
Lunge tips ~ never let your knee go beyond your toe, be sure to press the heel of your front foot into the floor and squeeze your butt at all times! Do three sets of 15 on each leg, three or four times a week. You should start to see an improvement in a month!
Make a coffee scrub
We’re all guilty of spending our hard earned cash on the latest cream or scrub that promises to banish our cellulite without trace…and being disappointed when it doesn’t do what it says on the tin! So here at Average Janes we beg you to stop wasting your money and make your own! Caffeine stimulates blood flow to the skin surface and can help flush out excess fluids, giving you a smoother look. Coffee scrubs are used as salon treatments for these reasons and so here’s how to make your own.
How to ~ use half a cup of real coarsely grounded coffee and mix with a little hot water to make a paste. Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil and half a cup of granulated sugar. When cool, rub into affected areas with circular motions and relax for 30 mins (you can wrap the areas in cling film so can still sit down!) Finally wash off with warm water in the shower.
Finally, you can’t beat fake tan for an instant treatment. OK, it doesn’t actually get rid of cellulite, but it hides a multitude of sins! Build up colour with a daily moisturiser with hint of self-tanner until you reach the desired colour.
So that’s it! Our top tips to help banish stubborn cellulite, so until we find a magic cream that really is an instant fix, enjoy!
