Budget vs Blowout: Foundations #2
We’ve got another two new bases to tell you about for beautiful flawless skin, whether you are a little cash strapped or looking to splurge.
The Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation ($34) had been on our beauty wishlist for a long time after seeing rave reviews for its full coverage benefits and we are pleased to report that this product does not disappoint. It packs a real punch in terms of coverage and really does live up to the name. A small amount applied with a buffing brush leaves a flawless base without it feeling cakey, it is full coverage but if you tend to go for lighter bases for a daytime look, this can work too as it doesn’t feel too heavy or look overdone.
It claims to have 12-hour staying power which we agree with as it is longlasting and does not require touch ups throughout the day, in fact you don’t have to worry much about your base once this is on. If you have acne scarring or visible pores this really does work wonders to mask them.
This foundation is similar to the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (review here) in terms of its full coverage and long lasting effect on the skin. This would work well on a range of skin types but especially on oily skin. It also has SPF 15 so no need to worry about putting on SPF in aswell.
It is a little bit on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way. Due to the full coverage effect it can be saved for days when you know you’ll be out all day with little time for retouching your makeup. Lastly, they have a great shade range so it shouldn’t be difficult to find your perfect shade. Unfortunately, it is a little difficult to get hold of in the UK, but if you do manage to get your hands on it we’d love to know your thoughts.
The newest addition to our makeup routine is the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Foundation (£9.99) it manages to do that magic thing of feeling lightweight and fresh whilst covering imperfections. This is medium coverage and claims to provide no transfer, no visible imperfections, no visible shine, no dry-out, no mask effect – big claims but we tend to agree with the majority, it is longlasting but we have not given it the 24 hour trail so far.
This is ideal for normal/dry skin types, although L’Oreal Paris also have a Matte Foundation within their range for those with oily skin, we’ve heard great things about that too. There are currently 8 shades in the range, so a bit limited compared to Tarte’s foundation offering.
We love how quick this is to apply, it has become a daily staple due to how easy it is to buff in using a brush or your fingers. We cant believe the price tag that comes along with this awesome product and we would highly recommend giving it a go.
