Budget vs Blowout: Concealers
The next instalment of Budget vs. Blowout and we have two amazing concealers to review for you!
Bobbi Brown Corrector £19.00
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer £19.00
Bobbi Brown concealers have become a base essential in many beauty lovers kit over the last few years, and we happen to be one of their converts. We use two of their products for the perfect under-eye cover combination, firstly we use the Bobbi Brown corrector in Light Bisque this pink-based concealer is perfect to cover up tired eyes. It aims to hide dark circles and neutralise discolouration. Next we go in with the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Warm Ivory which is a yellow-based concealer which works to brighten the under-eye area. The creamy concealer can also be used to cover up spots and counteract redness around the nose or chin. You can use a small concealer brush to apply these, but we find using a combination of a brush and your fingers works really well.
These products work great with an eye cream set underneath, this helps to prevent creasing and you don’t get that cakey feeling under the eye. A setting powder is sometimes necessary with this concealer, just to lock in the cream formula. We feel like these products work well alone, but put together they are even better and give a beautiful airbrush effect to the skin! They seem to have a large range of shades available so I think every skin type should be able to find their perfect shade!
Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer £10.00
This 3-part product is similar to the Bobbi Brown versions in that it has concealer designed specifically for the under-eye. We found this to be a great under-eye concealer and really helped to blur the skin and helped to hide dark circles. Both the concealers in this package seem to have a liquid finish and using the accompanying setting powder helps to stop the under-eye looking the wrong side of dewy.
The next product is the superwear face concealer, this did a good job at counteracting redness on the face, although we did find ourselves reaching for something a little creamier to cover spots, as this felt a little drying and cakey once applied to blemishes.
The big appeal of this product is that it contains three products within one tiny package. It has two concealers, a setting powder and sponge, it also has a small mirror which is really useful. The setting powder and sponge is perfect for touch-ups throughout the day and practically halves our handbag makeup bag.
I think the Bobbi Brown concealers have a better cover-up pay off and longer lasting power, however if you are looking for a cheaper and more compact version than the Soap & Glory version is perfect! We prefer to use the Bobbi Brown concealers within our morning routine and then this S&G handy kit is amazing to carry around in your bag for touch ups.
