EVITA: Theatre Review

evita-bill-kenwright

Us Janes were lucky enough to head to the West end for the press night of the wonderfully heart warming return of EVITA.

The rags to riches story of Argentine heroine, Eva Peron, is a non-stop spectacular that delivers everything you need for a night at the theatre.

In short EVITA is set in Argentina in the 1930s-50s and follows Eva Duarte, a girl who dreams of making it big in the bright lights of the big city (what Jane doesn’t, babe!) She moves to Buenos Aires and through making the ‘right’ friends’ and her in-the-right-place-at -the-right-time attitude quickly becomes a actress. When she meets Juan Peron, their love affair sees her become First Lady of Argentina. A true modern female she dedicates her fame to help fight for women’s suffrage and improving the lives of the poor. The people love her, we love her, you will love her – basically because you want to be her!

Eva is played by West-end superstar, Emma Hatton and Gian Marco Schiaretti plays Che… (eye)candy not just available in the interval, ladies!

The spine tingling vocals from the whole cast along with the lively dance sequences and sounds of the orchestra sent shivers down our spines and, if like us you know all the words, you will struggle not to sing along to this Andrew Lloyd Webber masterpiece.

EVITA is at The Phoenix Theatre until 12th October! So get your tickets fast and don’t miss out on this magnificent musical masterpiece!

We did cry for you Argentina!
