PICT – Scented Frames Bringing Memories to Life

pict-memory-photo-frames

Earlier this month a new online framing service called PICT launched, and Average Jane’s got a chance to review and give you our verdict.  Now, we know there are literally dozens of online (and offline) photo framing services, so what sets PICT apart? Why is it worth mentioning over the others? Jessie checks it out below.

Well my friends, the answers to these questions lie in your nostrils. (No really!) The service has a very special feature which makes it stand out from its competitors. It offers customers the chance to add a subtle spritz of a special scent to trigger the memory associated with the picture. I mean how lovely!? For as long as I can remember I’ve always been snap happy.

PICT – evoking your photo memories

I love bringing my memories to life by scrap booking and framing, so I jumped at the chance to test out PICT. We all have those special smells that have the ability to transport us to a particular time and place, whether it’s perfume, baked bread, freshly-cut grass – you name it.  So when you combine those powerful scents with visual senses, it really makes for something wonderful.

So how does it all work? Well the process is very easy and the PICT Team and Founder Lisa Malyon couldn’t be lovelier. Let me break it down for you:

Step 1: Choose your frame

An example of the ‘Booth’ frame

Frames range from £3 up to £67 and there’s something to suit everyone. They are available in classic 6×4 and 5×7 sizes in a range of styles. You can opt for pearl, glass, ceramic, metallic, plastic or wood and choose between 14 different shades. Once you select the frame you like, you can then choose the colour, size and frame orientation. This Average Jane decided to go for the wooden ‘Booth’ frame. I loved how rustic it looked and I thought the love-heart ‘clothes peg’ feature was quite quirky and different.

Step 2: Upload your Picture

Next, you upload your picture. You can do this from your smartphone, iPad, tablet or laptop. If you don’t have the particular picture you need saved on your device, don’t worry – there is the option to select one from Facebook or Instagram! If, for whatever reason, there is any problem with your picture, the team will be in touch right away. There was issues with the resolution on a couple of the pictures I originally selected, but Lisa was more than accommodating, going above and beyond to get it sorted immediately. I was so impressed with how hands-on she was. You can tell she really cares about the product and the overall customer experience.

Step 3: Choose your scent

This is the fun part, where you get to choose your scent! At the moment you can choose from Rainy Days, Hot Coffee, New Baby, Cut Grass, Open Log Fire, Christmas Time and even Play Doh! I’m sure more and more scents will be added to the list in the future. I went with ‘open log fire’ because the picture I selected was from last Christmas, and the frame was wooden, so I thought all of these aspects would complement one another. At this stage you are also given the option to gift wrap before heading to the checkout and then Voila! You’re done. It’s as simple as that.

Here’s a look at the finished product:

What’s the verdict?

I absolutely love my frame. The packaging is so compact and pretty. When you open the tissue paper you are hit with the scent of the frame instantaneously. You can tell a lot of care has gone into bringing your memory to life. I just love the sentiment behind this idea and I really cannot fault it. What’s even better is that for every order received, PICT donates 10p to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Whether it’s for a treat for yourself or a gift for a loved one, this thoughtful idea is so worth it.

But don’t just take this Jane’s word for it, visit PICT’s website and see for yourself!
