Girls season 6 trailer

girls-season-6-trailer-2

Cue the tears! The trailer for the final season of Girls has just landed and we are so happy/sad to find out what happens to our favourite bunch of girls and guys in New York City.

Will they all get the happy ending they don’t exactly deserve? Well, we sure do hope so. From the looks of the trailer, Marnie (Alison Williams) and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) are still going strong, as are Adam (Adam Driver) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke). It seems like this is also still hope for Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky), and even Elijah may finally get his big break.

For those of you completely confused by what we’ve just said, let us give you a quick Girls synopsis. The first series kicked off on April 15, 2012 introducing us to the characters we have grown to love, despite their annoyances. The show’s premise and major aspects of it’s main character Hannah were drawn from by creator Lena Dunham’s own life.

Essentially it follows aspiring writer Hannah, who gets a shock at the beginning of the series when her parents visit from Michigan, and announce they will no longer financially support her as they have done since her graduation from Oberlin College two years before. Left to her own devices in Brooklyn, she navigates her twenties, “one mistake at a time”. Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky co-star as Hannah’s circle of friends.

But what does season 6 have in store for them? Well, a major spoiler spotted while the season was filming on location in NYC suggests fans may be in for a HUGE surprise. It wouldn’t be Girls without things messing up for at least one of the characters mid season.

Season 6 has sadly been confirmed as the final season, though it may be something Dunham’s been planning for a while; she’s previously said in an interview that she thinks, “America has a tendency to push shows past their due dates”.
