Summer Beauty Edit

Rhian rounds up some of the top summer beauty products that have made it into her make up bag must-haves this summer.
summer beauty luna sleeping oil

Luna Oil by Sunday Riley

This extravagant purchase has become a night-time staple for the past six months. It is a nourishing sleeping night oil which aims to reduce signs of ageing as you sleep. In particular it will lessen the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles and correct signs of skin damage by encouraging cell renewal and repair. You need to apply a few drops of the blue oil to your fingertips and work into the skin as part of the last step in your night-time routine. You will wake up to hydrated and plump-feeling skin! The only downside is the price tag with a 30ml bottle coming in at £85 a pop – it is pricey but definitely a nice luxurious treat for your face, and it lasts ages too!

L.A.B 2 Make-Up Brushes

If you are looking for some great affordable make-up brushes, try the L.A.B 2 range available at Superdrug. Each brush is made of FiberLuxe Technology which is specially designed with the softest and highest quality filaments. They really are super-soft to the touch and come in a sleek black design. The foundation brush is great for using with foundation or concealer to create a streak-free effect. My favourite brush in the range is the Blush Brush which evenly distributes the right amount of colour for precise make-up application. Prices start from around £3.50.

bio-oil-summer-beauty

Bio-Oil

This is an old favourite but an essential for post-holiday skin. The oil can be used for many things, but it works really well to reduce the sore and scarred effects of sunburn. If you’ve just come back from holiday and need something to soothe the skin whilst also helping to repair it, using Bio-Oil every day for a week or so will massively improve the appearance of your skin. It can also be used to improve the appearance of stretch marks, scars and uneven skintone. Bio-Oil has consistently won skincare awards for its effectiveness and has become the No.1 bestselling product of its kind in 23 countries.

becca makeup primer

Becca Backlight Priming Filter

This small sample was picked up on a whim for the summer months and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It is a subtle primer which aims to give a ‘soft focus’ effect on the skin by blurring imperfections. It has a non-greasy feeling on the skin but still leaves an amazing sheen to the skin which is perfect for a dewy summer look. It has a slight shimmer when applied to the fingers but don’t be afraid, it doesn’t show up on your face, it just leaves a flawless finish to your complexion.

sally-hansen-miracle-gel

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

Always on the hunt for a new long-lasting nail varnish, I picked up the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Regal Rose and the Top Coat too. I figured I could try and get salon-like talons ahead of a wedding, and I’m really pleased with the results. The instructions say to apply two coats of colour – which was enough to get a good colour all round – and then apply the top coat. They were really quick to dry, even after applying three coats in total. The brush was really easy to work with and applied to the nails really nicely. The top coat leaves a nice shine effect to the nails. The colour lasted really well, a lot longer than your average nail polish so you can get salon results for a fraction of the price! There are many shades to choose from, so you’re bound to find a colour to suit you.

nude-by-nature-highlighter

Nude by Nature Highlight Stick

Last but not least, I have to mention the highlight stick from Nude by Nature which – apart from having the most dreamy packaging – is an amazing multi-purpose product for adding some glow to your face. It is a mixture of a contour, bronzer and highlighter which should be applied to the cheekbones, eyelids and eyebrow arches, although you can also try it on your forehead and under the chin too. The cream-to-powder formula makes it easy to blend in with your fingers and helps give your face some dimension and extra glow. This compact and versatile product would be perfect for travelling when you aren’t able to bring huge contour or highlight palettes away with you.
